Personal Growth
Is it finally time to truly feel fulfilled?
Your life has been about rushing from one thing to the next. You crave being able to pause to really figure out if you’re truly happy and what you want from life.
Have you made compromises in your relationships that you regret or hold resentment around?
Are you caught in a vicious cycle where you find yourself counting on the next milestone in your life to bring you fulfillment?
Are unresolved past issues stirring up — you finally want to address them and be at peace?
You’re almost always in your own head. It’s exhausting! You want to learn to become more present.
You have gone so far down a road that has brought you success but you have this nagging feeling that you’re not living the life you wanted.
WHEN LIFE IS GOOD ENOUGH, YOU’LL ALWAYS BE SEARCHING FOR THAT MISSING PIECE
Like most of us, you have worked hard in one capacity or another the get to where you are. While you’re not looking for a pity-party, you’ve endured your share of challenges, whether those were navigating difficult experiences in childhood, trouble fitting in with peer-groups, or having to constantly prove yourself academically or professionally. Let’s just say that life wasn’t handed to you on a silver platter. So you’ve figured out some coping skills (some healthy, others not so much) to get you through whatever you had to. After all, you’re the kind of person who just keeps moving forward. So, on the surface, others describe you as a high achiever, a straight shooter, or a tough cookie.
However, what others don’t see is that you’ve sacrificed so much trying make others happy, avoiding unnecessary conflicts, playing peacekeeper at home, or by taking the brunt of life to protect those you love. You have some resentments about the countless compromises you have had to make. So, after years of shoving it all down, you’re starting to realize that some of those frustrations come out in unhealthy or unproductive ways. Maybe you lose your temper or you have private meltdowns or you turn to distractions that don’t result in relieving this void. Life is good-enough, but you know there has to be more to it.
You don’t have to stay stuck in that place any longer… I help people get out of their own way to craft the life that finally gives them the fulfillment they have been searching for all along.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY FOR PERSONAL GROWTH CAN HELP YOU LIVE A FULL LIFE.
We all do the best we can to make the most of what life has had in store for us. Yet, eventually, whether because of a recent crisis, life-transition, increased tensions in our relationships, or just because it’s finally the right time, we realize that we want more from life.
Regardless of the presenting issue, my hope is always to help my clients make sense of their inner world, recognize the patterns that keep them stuck in discontent, and emerge feeling connected to themselves and others in a meaningful way. I provide an integrative approach blending depth therapy with somatic and mindfulness-based approaches (such as Hakomi therapy), all through an expert relational lense.
On your journey of personal growth you will:
gain self awareness and insight into how/why you orient yourself in life the way that you have
unburden yourself from the shoulds and musts that are holding you back from the life you want
develop effective ways of coping when familiar frustrations or anxieties bubble up
learn to slow down, center and become present in your life and relationships
identify, articulate and craft what a fulfilling life means to you
learn to become and stay accountable to your goals as you continue on your path to self-actualization.
Reconnect with yourself
You may have some lingering questions…
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes I do! Online therapy, also known as telehealth, has become an essential source of receiving mental health and medical care. Luckily, we know that online therapy is just as effective as in-person sessions.
As I am licensed in New York and Connecticut, I offer my therapy services to countless clients across both states. These video or phone sessions are confidential, secure and tailored specifically for your needs.
For video session, the process is easy and doesn’t require any special arrangements. A few minutes before our session, you will receive a link to the video conferencing “waiting room” where we will meet for our therapy appointments. Find out more about secure telehealth counseling set up and FAQs.
I’ve been to therapy before (sort of!), how will this be any different?
Some of my clients have a little to a lot of experiences being in therapy. Whether they were dragged by their parents as a child, their spouse, or thought they’ll go a few times to “fix” a presenting issue, all have eventually left without lasting results. Perhaps you’ve done the talk therapy thing, or the ever so popular Cognitive Behavioral Therapy thing, or the venting to a therapist that didn’t say more than two words back to you thing, you may be approaching going (back) to therapy with considerable skepticism. I get it!
So let me be clear, I don’t do any of the above. I’m open, approachable and very engaged in the therapy process. I am truly committed to helping you become your best-self without imposing any agendas on you. Our work together will be focused toward YOUR goals. My role is to provide you with a process that invites and makes space for all parts of you by working in the here-and-now, integrating depth therapy, somatic/mindfulness-based approaches such as Hakomi Therapy. I want to empower you with ways to feel supported and centered so that even when life throws you more curveballs, you continue to stay in as whole and authentic you.
Seems like everyone could use some personal self-growth. Is it better for some people than others?
There’s no doubt that we could all strive to make more room to slow down, become more self-aware, and figure out what will make us happy. This kind of work does require for some key foundational pieces to be in place. As Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs clearly spells out, physiological (nutrition, shelter, air, etc.) and safety (financial stability, health, etc.) needs are critical in order to explore our needs for belonging, self-esteem and self-actualization. Additionally, if you have untreated addiction, self-harm, suicidal ideation, or a severe mental illness, individual therapy for self-growth may be best once other pressing issues have been addressed or as an adjunct approach to the more immediate mental health concerns. .
There’s no commitment, pressure, or obligation. You get to share with me a little bit about what you’re looking to work on and I can answer any questions you might have about my practice.
